This year I wanted to challenge myself and get out there - and what's a better reason to do it than for a charity!
I am very much not what you would describe as 'athletic', so the events I've signed up to below are definitely a challenge for me. Luckily, I have my amazing boyfriend Jack, who will be taking part in all of the below and raising money for his own choice of charities (go check it out!!). Donating will not only motivate me but also help charities and the people who need it most. Even sharing with your connections would help absolutely massively.
No matter £1 or £100, your help is appreciated more than you might ever know...
June 2026
Big Hike Jurassic Coast 2026
A Half Marathon Hike for Cancer Research UK
20th June 2026
I'm taking part in Cancer Research's 20km hike this year to help raise life-saving money.
As many people who will likely visit this page will know, I lost my mum due to cancer when I was 16. She battled cancer for many years, took part in many drug trials, and did everything she could to stay alive. Unfortunately, she didn't win that battle. It's hard to describe what a person is like to someone who hasn't met them before, but I think a few things anyone who knew her would say are that she was strong, determined (possibly a bit stubborn at times ahah), funny and full of life.
It's been extremely hard going through recent life stages without her being here, as she would never miss a family event; she would be the life of every party. No amount of money can bring her back, or make up for all the memories lost - but it might just save someone else's family member, and that's worth more than you think.
The Route
A half marathon hike around the Jurassic coast. Starting at Corfe Castle, then heading along Purbeck way, through Corfe Common, and then back to Corfe Castle.
457m of elevation gain, over 21km.
September 2026
Autumn Wolf Run
A mud, trail, and obstacle running course over 10K
12th September 2026
As I'm writing this, I can hardly run a 5k..let alone a 10k, and my upper body strength is near nonexistent - so this will definitely be interesting🤣
One of the charities I've decided to raise money for is DEBRA UK, where I've just started working. They are a national charity and patient support organisation for people living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), also known as Butterfly Skin. Inherited EB is a group of rare and incredibly painful genetic skin conditions that cause the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch - there is no cure. I hadn't heard of them before working here, so I wanted to help spread awareness within my contacts. My fundraising aim is to try to help improve the quality of life of those who have EB. If you want to support, you can donate, share with your contacts, or even visit their website to find out more - debra.org.uk
My second charity is Breast Cancer Now. My mum lost her battle against Cancer when I was 16, which started as breast cancer and then swiftly spread throughout the rest of her body. This cause is incredibly close to my heart, and I hope that in fundraising for them, it can help support those who need it and their families.
